Whole Holes...

Whole Holes was crafted to spiral, deliberately disorienting. Its final line breaks through the chaos, offering just enough clarity to stir reflection in the reader’s own depths.

Why when we feel grief, pain, loss,
Do we say, it feels like a hole?

Why when we are full of good feelings,
Do we say, we feel whole?

Does having a hole make us not whole?
Is there less whole and more whole?
Or is it just fully whole,
Or a full hole?

If a hole means we're not whole,
Can you fill a hole, to be whole?
And if you can fill a hole,
What would make it whole?

Can you have more than one hole?
Can you still be whole,
With a hole?

Are some holes deeper?
Are some wholes fuller?

Can you fill a hole with the wrong thing,
And not be whole?

I have a hole...
It's the deepest hole I've ever seen.
I am,
Still whole.
